Off to the races

January 19th, 2009 · No Comments

Update:

I have just finished my final training block at Whistler coming in to the opening qualification races of the season which will be held at Copper Mountain, CO.  It’s there that I will qualify to race the World Cup at Cypress (Vancouver) which will be held on February 5th and 6th.

Having done several weeks of intensive ski cross training, which includes training jumps, starts, ski technique, racing tactics etc, I feel very well prepared to jump in to the North America Cup races down in Colorado next week.  I admit that I still have much to learn… but I’m going for it!!  Check back for race results

1st place Kokanee Super-G

January 16th, 2009 · No Comments

Yesterday I found the top step of the podium in the Kokanee Super-G race here at Whistler!

I have improved my technique and am getting ready to depart for the ’season opening’ ski cross races.  For the last week of the month I will be at Copper Mountain Colorado for two open races and two North America Cup ski cross races.  I found out the qualification criteria for the World Cup at Cypress (Vancouver) in early February is for me to get a result in the top 50% in the competitors at the continental cup.  I’m pumped because I know I can do it.

My goal is to qualify for the finals, then kick a**!

Christmas Break traning camp

January 6th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Happy New Year!

I have been training for the past few weeks straight with only a few days off for the holidays.  I did a lot of jump and start training as well as some some technical ski training with a healthy addition of fitness training every day.  All in all I’m sore, but that good soar that tells me I’m building muscles!

The low snow pack at Whistler has been very damaging to my skis, I have delaminated one pair and brutally destroyed two others.  The good news is that today we had another dump of snow (41cm) and the fresh tracks were unbelievable all day!!

I seem to have Tuesday’s off this month, that’s it.  It gives me one day a week to work on finding new sponsors and writing here in my blog!

My next competition will be at Copper Mountain, Colorado at the end of the month.  There will be one North America Cup race and two open races.  After that race I will be qualified to race my first World Cup at Cypress (Vancouver) which is from February 3rd to 6th!!

Exciting news:  1) TV interview on Wednesday with Shaw Cable for their new nationwide program ‘Powered to Win’ (I’ll post when you can watch it here as well as the clip once it’s aired)
2) Anime video created by 2Q Creations shortly to be released!  Check back soon for details!
